Freckleton Half Marathon & Fun Run

The Freckleton Half Marathon is the oldest half marathon in the UK, and there is only one older half marathon in the world (in Luxembourg). The Mens Half Marathon started in 1964 and the Womens in 1976. In 2005 the first Fun Run was also held. We have a few pictures from 2002 and 2003, with most taken during 2004 and 2005. Unfortunately, we missed the event in 2006. If anyone has any from earlier years then we would love to put them on the site. Please contact us if you have earlier pictures or any from 2006.

Entry for the 2011 Freckleton Half marathon closed on March 28th with a total of 750 entries. Thank you to all those who have entered. If you were unsuccessful this year I hope you will try for 2012. Entries for the two mile fun run will be taken up to and including the day. The Fun Run will be on closed roads again this year. Bush lane, Green Lane, Preston Old Road, Marquis Drive and Avalon Drive will be closed for the Fun Run. No traffic will be allowed onto these roads while the Fun Run takes place. This is to ensure the safety of the people taking part. Bush lane and Green Lane will be closed for the whole of the Half Marathon, this is also for safety reasons. We will open the roads as soon as it is safe to do so. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause residents but hope you understand and will support one of the best races in the UK. Unfortunately, due to some misunderstanding, my husband was not given his usual marshalling position for the Half Marathon and Fun Run. As a result he was not able to get many pictures. Fortunately, others did better and obtained some excellent pictures. Lynn has some excellent pictures from 2008 and 2009. They can be found <here>. Brian Porter has been sent a number of photos which you can find <here>. Our thanks to those who contributed them.
