Overview
If you're having problems with this site, it could be due
to your browser being an early version that is unable to support
layers or Javascript properly. This site uses standard HTML coding
but a 'version 5' browser* or later is recommended at a resolution
of at least 800 x 600..
Javascript
Javascript is used for the menus and a few other functions. If you're
finding that some features give error messages or don't work correctly
then you may need to re-enable Javascript. Javascript cannot access
the files on your computer and is unable to do any damage to your
system. If you still have problems with the menu then the site can
still be navigated using the site map.
Cookies
We do not currently use cookies.
Pop-up windows
The gallery displays a larger version of the picture in a pop-up
window. There are numerous browser addons that disable this function.
If after clicking on a picture icon you do not see a larger version
then check that popup windows are enabled. It is also possible for
the new window to appear behind the current one so check that this
has not happened.
Appearance
Sometimes there can be a marked difference between the appearance
of Web pages in various browsers. Freckleton.org is regularly checked
using Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Opera and Mozilla.
Unfortunately there's very little I can do except try to achieve
the best compromise, but let me know anyway and I'll see what I
can do.

Browsers
The best way to overcome browser problems is to download the latest
version of the browser software, or at least obtain a "v5"
browser. There is really no need to continue with older, clunky
browsers.

The two most popular browsers that are compatible with Windows and
Macintosh computers are Netscape
and Internet
Explorer - click the logo to reach the respective site. For
any other browser, try free download sites like CNET
or Tucows.
Alternatively, if you would prefer not to download such large files,
you should be able to obtain a copy from the cover CD of a computer
magazine.
 Opera
The Opera browser
is fully compatible with the menu system used in freckleton.org.
Earlier versions may give problems, but you should consider upgrading
in any case to the latest version.
