We now have pictures from the Half Marathon on our pages. You can find them <here> or from the link on the Marathon page. There are pictures of the start when everyone was still fairly bunched up. We also have pictures of the majority of runners up to 250th place when the camera battery died!.

Message from BAe Systems - 13.06.10
Update: Some trials have taken place but the programme has not been completed due to the weather conditions. Further flights will occur soon.
19.05.10 - An RAF VC-10 aircraft, part of the RAF's fleet of air-to-air refuelling tankers, is likely to be undertaking an altimetry equipment trial over Warton at some point in the near future, which will involve low altitude fly-pasts along the runway. The low flying is expected to be carried out on two separate flights and on each occasion may continue for up to two hours at any time during the airfield opening hours of 08.00 - 19.30. During this time elevated noise levels may be experienced. As certain weather conditions are essential in order for these trials to take place, we are currently unable to predict when the fly-bys will take place.

Supporting Arms Ltd - 04.05.10
Following several consumer queries, Lancashire Trading Standards Service wishes to warn Lancashire residents that sacks which have been left on people's doorsteps on behalf of Essex-based company Supporting Arms Ltd should not be mistaken for the ones usually deposited by charities. The firm involved in this case is a profit-making concern. <more>

London Marathon - 01.05.10
Brian Porter completed his marathon and has this to say:
" Just a quick note to let you know I managed to drag myself round The London Marathon on Sunday in 4 hours 6 minutes and 35 seconds. A little slower than I hoped for but I'm happy enough with that. Thank you very much to everyone who sponsored me and for the many messages of support: I really appreciate it and the total for The Anthony Nolan Trust currently stands at just short of £2000. Thank you to those of you who pledged your donation on completion: could I ask you to either make your donation at www.justgiving.com/teamfylde or to send a cheque, payable to THE ANTHONY NOLAN TRUST to my home address at 34 Delany Drive, Freckleton, Preston, PR4 1SJ."

Freck Chain Gang - 26.04.10
Members of the FCG joined a charity ride on Saturday 24th April and helped to raise nearly £700 for this worthy cause. The fifty mile ride organised by club members Carl Brown and Tony Pearson saw nineteen riders heading north to Scorton and back via Pilling to a reception at Freckleton Social Club. Well done riders and organisers and a big thanks to all those who generously donated.

Entry for the 2010 closed on April 8th with a record 750 entries. Entries for the two mile fun run will be taken up to and including the day. The Fun Run will be on closed roads this year. Bush lane, Green Lane, Preston Old Road, Marquis Drive and Avalon Drive will be closed for the Fun Run. No traffic will be allowed onto these roads while the Fun Run takes place. This is to ensure the safety of the people taking part. Bush lane and Green Lane will be closed for the whole of the Half Marathon. this is also for safety reasons. The roads will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so.

War Memorial - 10.04.10
Andrew Norris is researching the men of Freckleton who are remembered on the village war memorial. He has created a web site which will list the information he gathers. He intends to update the site regularly as he learns more.

Fund Raiser - 31.01.10
Brian Porter is running the London Marathon in April to raise money for The Anthony Nolan Trust for Leukemia. He is also taking 20 students with him to provide massage (he says that he had to make sure he got a massage somehow!)
The BTEC National Diploma first and second year students are hoping to treat up to 250 runners to raise money for the trust <more>. Over the past few years Brian has known people who lost their lives to leukemia because a bone marrow donor could not be found: He has also seen the relief a transplant can bring. Currently, he knows two people who are waiting for a suitable donor. Please help Brian by making a donation. He has set up a charity giving page at Just Giving to make donating as easy as possible (please add the Gift Aid) but if people prefer to deal in cash, they can email him:

Takeaway Menu's - 09.12.09
We have observed that the various takeaways in the village are amongst the most frequently accessed pages on the site. Most of the downloadable menu's are now VERY out of date. Perhaps the customers of these establishments would like to suggest to the proprietors that it would be a good idea to send us a new menu?

Freckleton CE Race Night - 15.03.10
Freckleton CE Wishes would like to thank everybody who supported our Race Night on the 12th March. Everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we managed to raise over £1,400 in total; which will go towards the refurbishment of the Junior Playground. We would like to thank our local businesses, especially BAE Systems MAS, Freckleton SPAR, Rachel Hardy, Funtastic Inflatables, Barnacle Bill's, Jane's Couture Dress Agency, Studio D and The Birley Arms for sponsoring our races. We would also like to thank Flapjacks, Salon 30, Pebby's Bakery, e-Logic, Ribby Hall, Giddykids and Pink Tree Parties for donating very generous raffle prizes. Without the support of local businesses and loyal parents events like this would not be a success.

Celebrating 200 years of Methodism - 31.01.10
In 2010 the Freckleton Methodist Church are celebrating 200 years of Methodism in the village. Plans are well advanced to usher in an anniversary year packed with a plethora of events and activities to suit all tastes and ages. For a full Outline Programme <Click Here>

RAF Freckleton - 28.02.10
We have now added a page for RAF Freckleton. You can find it <here> and under the Out & About menu.

Google search problem - 19.02.10
During the early part of February the Google web crawlers were denied access to the site due to a problem with our hosting server. This has resulting in freckleton.org being removed from the search results! The problem has been corrected but it may be some time before freckleton.org climbs back to the top. In the interim, it is better to bookmark the home page and use the Google search facility at the lower right of the page which is less affected by the problem (only a few pages are not searched).

Cold and Snowing - 16.01.10
Its been an interesting start to the year. Snow, cold and icy! Whilst it must be difficult to keeps roads clear it is disappointing that so little has been done. Only Lytham Road and the dual carriageway have been treated. Paths have not been treated and it has been 'difficult' to walk anywhere until the recent thaw. Are we getting a reasonable return from our council tax? What do you think?
