2006 - Great news for running in Freckleton - Freckleton Half Marathon in top ten The runners have spoken and Runners World web site have announced the top races based on the ratings received from runners in the events. The Freckleton Half Marathon is at number 9 and the Wesham 10K at 27. As the organiser of both races I am delighted that they have been rated so highly by the most important people in the sport - the runners. Indeed, it appears that I am the only race organiser with TWO races listed in the top 50 races. I feel very proud of this achievement. The Freckleton Half Marathon is the oldest half marathon in the UK, and there is only one older half marathon in the world (in Luxembourg). The Wesham 10K celebrated it's 20th anniversary in 2005 and continues to go from strength to strength. This year the race celebrates 42 years with the 30th staging of the ladies race. To celebrate I have invited all the previous winners of the ladies race to return, including former GB International and event record holder Veronique Marot. I believe the success of both races is down to their friendliness. Both races welcome athletes of all abilities and new runners are especially welcome. They also offer fast courses for the faster athletes. Brian Porter Email: Race Director Half Marathon 2006
